I just came across the best kid’s books I’ve seen in a long time. It is a series called The Orange Chronicles that features a flying pig named Orange and his best friend, Jes.
There are several things that make these books so good.
- They are very well written. The vocabulary is not dumbed down. It is challenging without being discouraging.
- They are morally upright without coming across like a lecture on behavior.
- They are fun.
- They are educational. The reader learns an incredible amount of information that is slipped in there so cleverly the child hardly realizes he is learning.
- They are full of adventure, a little bit of light-hearted danger, mystery, and all the other cool things that kids love to read about.
- They are affordable.
So don’t miss out. Look for Orange Down Under, Orange in the Land of Lakes and Volcanoes, and later this year Orange in the Snow, Orange in Red, White, and Blue, and Orange in the Kalahari.
