I just ordered my Brother Project Runway sewing machine. I had been wanting a sewing machine for months. Now with birthday money and Christmas money and my babysitting money I have enough money. I got it at Amazon after reading best sewing machine for beginners. It had information on a lot of great machines for beginning sewing machines. I just finished my sewing semester of Home Economics and was able to make some really cool things. I made a blouse and skirt that I really like and I made my dad a canvas tote bag. I even made a cover for the dog bed. I live in rural Colorado so going to the store for the more fashionable clothes takes a good two hours there and two hours back. Needles to say it does not happen much. So my alternative is to make it myself. I have a great teacher who is helping me so I can make my own patterns and design my own clothes. It has been great.

Scrapbooking is a very popular pastime these days and little wonder as it’s a great way to preserve those precious memories – family photos, holidays, celebrations and anything else you treasure. Keeping your scrapbooks and scrapbooking supplies in good order though, can be a challenge, especially if you’ve been doing it for years and have built up quite a collection.
A really good way that I’ve found to help take care of my scrapbooking projects, is by inserting all my finished scrapbook pages into plastic sheet protectors and placing them into a 3-ring binder. The sheet protectors help protect the page from any accidents or damage from the air. The other benefit, is that it then enables me to change the pages around as I see fit. I’ll quite often decide that I don’t want to leave a page where it is and so this makes it quite easy to re-order them or even put them in a completely different album.

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011I was looking for some cheap ideas to keep the kids entertained last holidays and found that some bamboo sticks combined with string, glue and paper was a great fun way for them to build their own kites. After fixing the bamboo together and gluing on the paper I had them decorate it and then we went down to the local park to fly them. Surprisingly their bamboo stick kites flew and actually quite well too. Some of their friends came along and now they all want to come over and make kites too. It’s a good way to keep them out of trouble and with supervision can be a fun afternoon to spend with them learning a new craft. Now I’m going to research other ideas for making things with bamboo sticks, but I already think the next one might be to get them to make their own bamboo fishing pole.
